Boreal Light and Nenner Hauser Partner to Scale Sustainable Water Infrastructure Worldwide

Berlin, 5 March 2026 – Boreal Light GmbH and Nenner Hauser GmbH have announced a strategic partnership to jointly develop and implement sustainable water infrastructure projects worldwide. The collaboration brings together Boreal Light’s advanced desalination technologies with Nenner Hauser’s engineering and large-scale project capabilities, creating a strong platform to deliver efficient and scalable water solutions for regions facing increasing water scarcity.

Combining Innovation with Engineering Expertise

Berlin-based Boreal Light develops solar-powered desalination systems designed to provide reliable access to clean drinking water in water-stressed and off-grid regions. Its modular systems use renewable energy to convert seawater or brackish water into safe drinking water, offering sustainable solutions for communities, islands, and industrial users. Boreal Light has successfully implemented projects across Africa and other water-scarce regions, helping expand access to dependable freshwater supplies.

Nenner Hauser, headquartered in Hamburg, contributes extensive experience in engineering, project development, and infrastructure implementation. The company is recognized for its capabilities in large-scale water treatment systems, advanced chemical pretreatment processes, and complex industrial water solutions. Through its engineering expertise and international project execution experience, Nenner Hauser supports the development and implementation of technically demanding infrastructure projects.

Strategic Partnership for Advanced Water Solutions

Through this partnership, the two companies will collaborate on the design, development, and implementation of desalination and water treatment projects worldwide. The cooperation enables the partners to address a broader range of applications, including larger municipal systems, industrial water treatment, and projects involving more complex raw water conditions.

“As global water scarcity continues to intensify, the demand for robust and scalable water treatment solutions is becoming increasingly urgent,” said Dr. Hamed Beheshti, CEO of Boreal Light. “Our partnership with Nenner Hauser combines Boreal Light’s expertise in sustainable and decentralized desalination technologies with Nenner Hauser’s strong capabilities in large-scale desalination engineering and advanced chemical pretreatment systems. Together, we significantly expand our ability to address complex raw water qualities and to deliver reliable solutions for larger municipal and industrial water applications.”

With growing pressure on freshwater resources driven by climate change, population growth, and industrial development, the partnership aims to accelerate the deployment of resilient, energy-efficient water infrastructure across international markets. By combining technological innovation with advanced engineering expertise, Boreal Light and Nenner Hauser intend to contribute to sustainable water security for communities and industries worldwide.
